BLOG 8 - A SUBJECT YOU ENJOY STUDYING THIS SEMESTER (OR ANY SEMESTER)

Orchestration Listen to music with a good orchestration is one of the pleasures most amazing in the life, at least for me. For that reason this subject is my favourite. In orchestration I learn how to work with each instrument. But know how to mix the timbres is the most beatifull part. The orchestration is a varied discipline and this has evolved in the time. For example: The Mozart's orchestral music tend to use the string with an importan role, the mix of timbres is most predetermined and the variation of colors isn't so important. The Tchaikovsky's orchestral music is very different because of several reasons. The harmony and the Russian melodies are fundamental in that difference but the orchestration is most relevant when we want to talk about Tchaikovsky. In this case the orchestra is big, the brass and the percussion have an important role, the orchetration isn' predetermined and the variation of colors is very important so much. I like Tchaikovsky. Post 7 Career-related website

Hi classmates and teacher Today I want to share a website that is useful for learn musical theory. I used it when I was 12 years old and I began to learn music. Now I don't use it but it was useful at least for me. The website is: https://www.teoria.com/es/ I like this website because it has tools for train the ear: dictation to intervals, dictation to chords, dictation to melody. 1, 2, 3 o 4 voice. It's funny so much. If you want to learn musical theory and train your ear you should go into this website at least 3 time per week. I think that everyone should learn musical theory because that will help you to enjoy the music whit your heart and your mind. p.s. If you have a question about musical theory you can talk me and I will help you. I can teach you about harmony, musical analisys, conterpoint and orchestration.

Post 6: My favorite book

Hi classmates and teacher Today I will talk about my favorite book. I like to read. But this wasn´t always the case. When I was a child didn´t like to read. In the school sometimes I didn´t read the books. Always I have been mathematician and I thought that the reading was boring. In the university I began to read more. Now I love it. All started whit George Orwell. "1984" was the first. I like how the author created a future to a certein extent accurate. I confess that I don't want to live in a totalitarian society, but I think that we go to that. I can see this in the "funa"s culture and the weakening of the presumtion of innocence. The threat to private property worries me too. I could talk of this all the day, but I only recommend you that read it.

A Photograph and its story

My girlfriend captured this picture on September 2019 on Lastarria street. In this photo you can see to my friends and classmates of composition. Their names are Sebastian, Felipe and Rodrigo. This photograph is very special at me because we was preparing the poster for the concert on Paine. We performed musical pieces on October and that moment was special. I like this picture because is a good memory of my friends. They are good friends and we have a whatsapp group named "Los procastinadores" jajaja Felipe is a good composer and poet, Rodrigo is expert in performance and Sebastian is happy with the band of street musicians. The concert was beatifull. The musical pieces was amazing. I liked that moment. I believe that the concert established our friendship and that this picture is a symbol of that. Really it is a good memory.

"Tres poemas de Ósip Mandelstam"

Hi again Today I will talk about a work of music that I composed 2 years ago and we performed for the first time in october 2019. It's a piece for octet and its name is "Tres poemas de Ósip Mandelstam". The instruments that I used were flute, clarinet, bassoon, horn, harp, voice, violin and cello. But on October I performed with guitar instead of harp because I didn't find a harp player. The concert was in Paine's theatre and you can watch the video next: https://youtu.be/N95QaqcdGWM Ósip Mandelstam was a russian poet. He died in a gulag. His story inspired me because the horror morsly of peopled suffered in the URSS is unknown or not so told, at least not massively. I used three poems and I think that this poems are representative of his life. The first is an abstract poem that he wrote when he was young. Do you want to watch youtube on your television and you don´t have a smart tv? I believe that this gadget will interest you. I am speaking to the tv box. The tv box is a device that let you to transform a normal tv into a smart tv. It is great because you can setup any application of the "play store": Youtube, Netflix, Amazon, Movistar play , etc. With the tv box you can watch movies, concert, tv show, a family video or any content you like. 2 years ago with my brothers gave a tv box to my dad. He uses it a little bit. Really I use more. jajajaj. Usually we use it 3 or 4 time per week. What I like most to this device is that I can watch movie with my family or with my girlfriend. It´s a good plan. I like the thriller psycho movies like "Donnie Darko" or like "Enemy". Too I like the fantasy movies like "The lord of the rings" or like "Harry Potter". My life whitout it wouldn´t be so different, but the tv box facilitate to have...

Blog 2- Why did I choose this career/study programme?

11 years ago I began to play electric bass. It was fascinating to me. I remember that I practiced along the day every day. In that time I wanted to be a bass player. One day I listened the Bso of The Lord of the rings. That music sounded amazing. In that moment I started to compose music. All changed for me. Now I wanted to be a musical composer. To choose a university was easy. The "Universidad de Chile" had prestige and that was enough for me. The major in musical composition was the only option, at least for me, so I chose that so I was ready to start. My experience have been good. I have learned so much and I think that I am qualified to jump to the next step in my life. I would like to compose music for movies and also compose music for my own. I would like to have a job, and would be perfect to teach subjects like harmony or orchestration.
